Hiryuu's Simfile README
DOD 6th #10/#119 Apoplexy (Extended OST version)
From Final Fantasy Tactics
Created this May 18th, 2006

I tell you, if it weren't for Final Fantasy Tactics I wouldn't have come close
to getting into strategy RPGs just a few years back. The music is no exception.
I can't really express how such a good game is so often overlooked. FFT is
usually not even considered against games like FFVII or FFX just for the sheer
fact that a lot of people didn't want to get into the strategy RPG genre. In
fact, it was probably one of the best games I ever purchased.

I can't say the same for FFT Advance, though. The system felt too restricted
and the story felt kinda bleh. At least with FFT it kept me wanting to come
back for more even after I beat it and even after I beat Velius to the ground
over and over again because that big fscker is fscking hard...with Advance, I
didn't have that. I got to the first crystal and, basically, quit. It just
wouldn't hold my enthusiasm.

This is one of the main themes that play during the game. There are two
versions of it, but this one is the extended OST version that puts both of them
together in a little over two minutes. It's a very orchestrated piece and, in
my opinion, kicks ass.

Hopefully, this will be a shout out to RPG fans who haven't ever played this
game. It is a MUST.

In-depth step analysis:

BPM: 160.60
Time: 2:09

Step-charts:

Heavy: 8-footer; 465 steps

A difficult 8-footer. The problem with this lies not only in its 12th-obsessed
chaos but with the stream that it creates because of it; it's a fast-paced file
at 160 BPM. You'll need to know how to turn and how to do some running in a few
places, but overall there aren't too many tricks in this. The reason I gave
this an 8-footer rating instead of a 9-footer is because I made sure to give the
user some breaks in-between. The stream isn't constant, so you have to deal
with more sudden voltage spikes more than anything.

There isn't really anything to point out other than to watch out for the
transition between first part and second part. Like Challenge, it gets rather
hard once it gets to the louder parts. The very end (again, like Challenge)
goes off on its own in chaos, so keep an eye out.

Challenge: 10-footer; 770 steps

Now this one takes a bit of a different approach than I'm usually used to. This
is the usual extended interpretation that I give to people on my 10-foooters and
the air usage is up used wisely, but I do use a tactic that I rarely use:
jacking. The thing is, I've done jack files before and they all tended to be a
pain in the ass when I did them. Only at low speeds are they any good, because
people tend to throw hissies at the same note over and over.

Now this one doesn't take that tactic up until the end of the file with the
second part of it and it doesn't use it that much. I only put it in there to do
something original and something that I normally don't do. It's difficult by
itself with the intense stream that you'll have to go through, so don't worry
about that. The jacking, to be honest, isn't that tough. 12th jacking at 160
BPM isn't an impressive feat. It does, however, make for a fun file in this
case, I thought.
